[PRO] Re: Birkenhead Bridge Upgrade Project

rev, that's Semaphore. It already has a faster way onto the PREXY than going through Port Adelaide.
And what you're predicting is low rise not high rise.

To some extent, probably. But I think it's fair to say the houses of Ethelton and Semaphore South won't be replaced by high rises this century!

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic

I live in St Georges, drive to Magill to drop my 2 kids to school, then have to commute into the CBD to work. Hence it is a triangular route I take each day. So is the real problem the lack of a school bus service? Please tell me what alternatives I have? One that springs instantly to mind is parki...

[PRO] Birkenhead Bridge Upgrade Project

So if you send through traffic away from commercial road, which runs through the central Port, doesnt that do what you say? Yes it does, therefore there's no point extending the bypass beyond Commercial Road. My "ring road" idea doesnt touch Ethelton nor Sem. South. It was more an upgrade of an exi...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic

Because my origin is the top of Magill Rd and destination is Queen St Norwood near the western side of the Magill Rd and Portrush Rd intersection. If it’s really backed up I’ll drive down Beulah Rd, but overall it doesn’t save much time because I have to get back to the Queen St / Magill Rd interse...

[PRO] Re: Birkenhead Bridge Upgrade Project

No, rev, the plan is to get through traffic to avoid central Port Adelaide.
There is also a plan to build it up, and that would benefit substantially from light rail.
AFAIK there's no plan to build up Semaphore South and Ethelton, so a full ring road does not make sense.

If it's so bad, why do you always take that route?

[PRO] Birkenhead Bridge Upgrade Project

rev, 2 sets of lights 150m apart? That would be like the City except with a lot less traffic! Port Adelaide doesnt need a full ring road - There's not much to the west, and Grand Junction Road already provides a southern alternative. It's really only the Port Road traffic that doesn't already have a...

Re: Harris Scarfe has gone broke

Concerning department stores...a short 'history lesson'......I can remember the following open in the CBD in 1974......Myer, David Jones, John Martins, Millers, Moores, Cox Foys and Harris Scarf's. There was another on the NW corner of Rundle and Pulteney. We are down to TWO. How things and shoppin...

rev, When I said the southern part of Commercial Road, I meant near Cleave Street. Eurostar, Why would you want to rip up the Outer Harbour Line and replace part of it with a slower route? Converting the Outer Harbour line to light rail is a sensible idea, and this may involve replacing the Port Ade...

No it shouldn't. The Jervois bridge would be a much better route for trams than the Birkenhead Bridge.

Re: SA Economy

Aidan, a place as well located and resourced as Adelaide won't die if it doesn't go Big, assuming good management. The go big or die message being peddled is a scam designed to benefit those in power. You misunderstand me. I'm not saying Adelaide itself is at risk of dying. But there are a lot of b...
