Re: Electrification and Resleepering of suburban rail networ

Perth did it right..added 1 extra station(Esplanade) in the southern CBD and that was it. An extra 4 stations between North Tce and the western parklands is overkill. We are talking about a commuter railway system moving large numbers of people from the outer suburbs and besides the Adelaide CBD is ...

Re: Electrification and Resleepering of suburban rail networ

Dogs leg? what do you think the city circle and city loops are in Sydney and Melbourne? It's good that the state government are finally "officially" considering it, im sure if rail electrification has the same effect as renewing the Glenelg Line, then tens of thousands more people are going to star...

Re: Electrification and Resleepering of suburban rail networ

Now that really is "a dogs leg" of a loop to connect North Tce to Pulteney St to Victoria Square......and then it connects to Mile End station which has got to be the most inappropriately located suburban railway station in this country. I prefer my alignment (see my ideas in Visions and Suggestions...

Re: Bowden Village TOD (Clipsal site)

I think this is a really exciting development for Adelaide.....an urban area outside the CBD (that's not Glenelg) with good public transport connections and the possibility of life happening 18 hours a day (as opposed to suburbia where the shutters come down at 6 pm) Its really important that as man...

Re: Electrification and Resleepering of suburban rail networ

Are they going to upgrade Salisbury Station? It desparately needs a make-over to bring it into the modern world, especially if it is supposed to be the centre of the future Salisbury TOD. Walking over train tracks to get to the other platform should be an anachronism in this day and age.

The tram continues along Port Rd and turns right into East St joining the train line (which resurfaces west of the Bowden station) creating a train/tram transport corridor.

Re: Train v Tram/Train v Tram v Road Bus v O-Bahn

Personally I think then reason the O-Bahn hasn't been copied in other parts of the world is that tram/light rail presents a far better alternative- higher capacity/easier upgrading of capacity i.e. more trams/more attractive to the travelling public. The O-Bahn is German technology but I think you w...

Re: Rail Line to Flinders Uni

Does the South Australian Government seriously expect those trams to fulfill peak-hour transport needs from Flinders University, Flinders Medical Centre, the Sturt Park'n'Ride and the Tonsley Super Tafe? They can't be serious!-talk about underestimating how successful this train line can be!

Re: Rail Line to Flinders Uni

The video shows trams running to Flinders University, the government release talks about tram-trains but surely it should be a heavy rail corridor fully grade separated (or at least our new "light" heavy rail trains or light metro) This corridor has the potential to move thousands of people at peak ...
