High Rise Development Across Australia

Postby Will » Fri Apr 20, 2007 3:55 pm

With the recent spate of high-rise proposals announced for Adelaide, I did a bit of research to find how we compare with the rest of Australia. In the past such comparisons would ahve been embarrassing, but now I think we are very competitive. Specially when our smaller population and economic importance is taken into account. I am specially amazed at the fact that Adelaide has more proposed and approved high rise buildings than either Brisbane or Perth.

Sydney:

U/C: 14
Approved: 35
Proposed: 69

Melbourne:

U/C: 18
Approved: 72
Proposed: 22

Brisbane:

U/C: 16
Approved: 14
Proposed: 12

Perth:

U/C: 15
Approved: 21
Propsoed: 7

Adelaide:

U/C: 3
Approved: 13
Proposed: 18

Gold Coast:

U/C: 15
Approved: 18
Proposed: 22

Newcastle:

U/C: 2
Approved: 2
Propsoed: 4

Canberra:

U/C: 4
Approved: 1
Propsoed: 1

Hobart:

U/C: 0
Approved: 1
Propsoed: 0

Darwin:

U/C: 4
Approved: 3
Proposed: 5

Yes 3 U/C

Tivoli is not high-rise, and neither is infinity waters. Furthermore the Newport Quay 12 level towers have not begun construction. And Place on Brougham is not classified as U/C, as it's a refurbishment of an existing building.

And did i say anything about hi-rises?, I said all the current projects for Adelaide.

How tall does a building have to be, to be classified as a High-Rise. Because really by Australian standards Santos is a low-mid rise building.

And i was talking about the 5st+ buildings being built at Newport Quays.

Hi-rise is needs to be at least 35m tall. Thats the Emporis understanding.

why did you post it in this thread then? it clearly says hi-rise. if you were to include projects of 5lvls or whatever, im sure Perth and other cities would have a hell of a lot more up there.

To make Adelaide not look so dead and to list the current projects for Adelaide (mostly for people not from SA)

Crawf just openly revealed his shame of Adelaide by trying to 'compensate' projects in a pathetic attempt of appeasement. Sorry to be harsh, but truth be told, I saw right through that one.

I knew your 'optimism' would rub off.

crawf

dont you even realise that by trying to add insignificant projects to SA's list, that would add dozens upon dozens to those of the other states?

of course Adelaide is going to have less projects u/c. we havnt even begun our boom, whereas Perth and Brisbane are well and truly into theirs.

An intelligent analysis of the results would indicate to you, that cities such as Perth and Brisbane are undergoing their boom at the moment. How could we have as many high-rise buildings under construction, when even you have mentioned in the past that our mining boom has not even begun yet?
