More...Isobel Redmond / Liberal SA vision for RAH Rebuild
Last Updated on Thursday, 19 November 2009 14:48 Written by Howie Thursday, 19 November 2009 14:42
Isobel Redmond and the SA Liberal Party have unveiled their preferred option for a RAH Rebuild.

Policy Document is now available for download.
The rebuild of the Royal Adelaide Hospital will be staged.
• The first stage will be a new multi-level patient accommodation block built in the area currently used as a short term car park.
• At the completion of this new building the old 1960’s wards (R Wing) will be demolished and its current functions transferred to the new accommodation block.
• The largely unused former nurses’ quarters will also be demolished. Both of these structures will be replaced by one new multi-level, multi-use facility. This new multi-storey facility will be built with minimum disruption to existing hospital buildings.
• The large stand-alone East Wing will then be demolished and returned to Park Lands.
• Underground car parking will also be incorporated into the new constructions.
• There is opportunity at the site to future proof the hospital.

Google Streetview Car Spotted in Adelaide
Written by Howie Wednesday, 11 November 2009 08:05
Mow your lawns and clean your windows, because the Google Streetview car is back in Adelaide. This time they're taking higher resolution images than before, and should be making them available sometime mid next year on Google Maps/Earth.
Thanks to Wayno for taking pictures of the Streetview car travelling on Rundle Street yesterday.

University of Adelaide New Science Precinct
The University of Adelaide is embarking on the redevelopment of the lower level of the North Terrace Campus to create an exciting new science precinct.
The site currently occupied by Union Hall will be redeveloped to build a world-leading centre for science, incorporating our new Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS), a 420-seat lecture theatre and additional teaching and research facilities.
This development will help accommodate urgent demands for increased space to cater for the University's rapidly expanding student numbers and research activity.
This development is being collectively funded by the Federal Government, the University and the State Government, the latter contributing $5 million to the IPAS project. With these world-class facilities, IPAS will develop new technologies focusing on some of the big problems in health, the environment, industrial processes and defence.
These facilities will be co-located next to the Molecular Life Sciences building and the Benham and Mawson laboratories, creating a science hub on the North Terrace Campus.
For more information about this development please view the Frequently Asked Questions document.
